Since 2007 our unique service has grown respect across 6 states within Australia and within the North and South Islands of New Zealand. 

 

We now seek an energetic and creative individual to join the SOCIAL WORK team in Sydney. This role will be based in our office in Botany.

 

About the role

To be successful you will have a strong understanding and solid skills relating to out of home care (OOHC) and the foster care sector. You MUST also have a tertiary qualification in Social Work and it be recognised by AASW or hold an equivalent qualification. The role will primarily be based within the community working with foster carers, managing the education of carers and maintaining the safety of the child/ren or young person/s in care. Travel within and around your coverage area is an expectation of the role so flexibility and the ability to work unsupervised is an essential component.

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing placement support to foster carers and supervising their practice to ensure the continued safety and placement stability of our children and young people in OOHC
  • Carry out Foster Carer Assessments of potential foster carers
  • Facilitate, encourage and support contact as agreed in care plans
  • Ensure the completion of all case management documentation, for operational compliance
  • And to ensure compliance of business policies and child protection procedures

 

Experience and Skills Required

  • Be highly energised and have a passion for delivering a high standard of service 
  • Be highly committed, resourceful and work to high standards
  • Experience in a children and family setting and proven working experience in child protection and/or out of home care
  • Tertiary Qualification in Social Work, AASW recognised or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in risk, critical incidents/allegations, investigation processes and recording
  • Experience in areas of trauma, attachment theory and associated behaviours 
  • Current Australian driving license, is a must as you will receive a company vehicle
  • Comprehensive understanding of the foster care sector and experience in attachment theory and other relevant frameworks
  • and knowledge of current legislation and government initiatives to support your practice as a social worker in a Non GOVT Agency
